A visit by grasshopper

We were greeted by a creepy grasshopper at my MIL's doorstep last month. My SIL used her bare hands to place it in a container effortlessly. This is the first time the boys had such a close encounter with an insect. Amos also wanted to touch it. I was at the side screaming at him !! LOL :)

We realized after a while that the container is wet. My nephew told us that the insect actually pee & poo in it. haha :D

I rem when I was in my pri school days. A praying mantis ever landed on my arms while I'm waiting for the school bus. It freaked me out instantly. The encounter just accelerated my fear for insects.

We released the grasshopper before we went home :)

Zac is back to school today !! :)

I came home yesterday & my helper told me that Amos classmate bite his arm. I immediately went to check on my boy & could clearly see the teeth mark which appeared RED on his fair skin. Poor thing !! I asked Amos what happened? He cried, "A fat fat boy bite me!!"
My helper only noticed it when he showered for Amos & saw the 'teeth mark'. If its not for the mark, we wouldn't have know that Amos was injured.

I was unhappy that the school did not inform us of the matter which the assistant did witness it. I felt that at least we should be informed if injury (no matter how small) occurred to the kids in school so that we could react if it gets serious esp there are bi-weekly physical play involved !! *sigh*

Zac can finally return to school today after resting at home for so .... LONG. I brought Zac to the doctor to confirm that he is well and to get the doctor's memo (re-certify that Zac is fit for school) as requested by Zac's school. I was surprised when the nurse told me I have to pay S$5 for the memo & another S$10+ for consultation fee. I was expecting to leave with just that memo without any charges cos its a re-visit. I wasn't comfortable paying for that amount so I asked the nurse to speak to the doctor again. In the end, the doctor waived off the S$5 memo but their clinic still need to incur the consultation fee :(:(
I called up another clinic near my house to check about the fees. I explained the scenerio to the nurse and she told me they do not charge consultation for re-visits on the same illness at all !!
I felt paying something extra bcos I entered the 'wrong' clinic the other day !! *bang head*

Scatch Mark on Zac's Face

Zac's English teacher called me on Tues. I immediately sensed that something not quite right since it is unusual for the teacher to call.

Apparently, Zac & another boy got into an argument over the snack pack given. The boy raised his hands & his LONG fingers scratched Zac right face (see photo). It was about 5 cm long & the cut deepened at the ends which was about 3 cm long :(

I questioned the teacher how come she din notice the boy's LONG finger nails since she checks them one by one every day before class commences? She replied that the boy's family has yet to trim his finger nails even after persistent reminder .... sigh !! :(

Now, my poor boy had to bear with this bad scratch on his face which I think will take weeks for it to subside. Hope it will not leave down scar :(

Child Safety

Last week, I mentioned about the fearful incident when Amos got himself locked in the washroom. Something terrified happened to Zac last month too.

We went to Century Square over a weekend. My helper brought Zac to the washroom after lunch while we waited outside Kiddy Palace. The latter being a toy's shop which Zac loves to patronize.

My helper came out of the toilet 5 mins later with Zac. I saw them from a distance so I moved forward to carry Amos. When I turned over in the direction of the washroom again, I only get to see my helper. She was surprised that Zac was no longer walking beside her when I asked her about him. We immediately went on separate directions to search for our missing boy. So many unpleasant scene flashed across my mind. Kidnapped? Need to call police? ....Where could Zac have gone. I was so panic and regret not having any child id on Zac. There was no way Zac could have contacted us. I felt like crying...

I kept telling myself I have to stay calm and retrace the steps. Zac just walked out of the washroom, within such a short time, he couldn't have gone far, so I went into all the stores nearby. 1o mins later, I nearly burst into tears when I saw a boy wearing the same top as Zac flashed across me among some kids in the crowded Kiddy Palace. I shouted for Zac and was relieved to see him turned around. I hugged him like I never before. I am so afraid of losing him again.

When I relate the incident to a friend. She told me about this child locator .
The system is designed to assist users in finding their child. Apparently, the product is able to store children's information on hard drive and USB for up to 10 children per family. The program also offer DNA analysis and identity and fingerprinting kits.

I will read up more about child safety since it is of crucial to me. It is also vital that we teach our kids how to be safe.

Mama, open the door..... *sob*sob*

I had a fright yesterday night !! *sweat*

I walked off to the kitchen to bring some boiled water for Amos to rinse his mouth only to return to my bathroom to realize that he was locked inside. I was so panicky and none of the keys seems to be able to open THAT door. Initially, Amos was still ok being alone. I kept talking to him while trying to unlock the door. However, as time went by, my little boy also sense that something was wrong cos "mummy had yet to come in".... he started to cry. His cry added on to my fear !! I kept on trying and ensuring that he will be fine while calling the locksmith. Amos is sick (fever, cough, running nose) since beginning of the week. I was so afraid that he will collapse inside the bathroom cos he was having a fever. Then, I heard him coughing badly & vomited inside.

15 mins passed, the locksmith finally arrived..... ..... he told us that the lock was spoil and he had to break it in order to open. What came into my mind then was "do whatever you want with that damn door, so long as I could reach my boy" !!

The moment the door opened.... Amos was sweating so much as though just taken a shower. Oh my poor darling. He looked helpless and all shaken. I could imagine how scare he was !!

After cleaning him up. I immediately gave him a good warm hug.

Till now, I am still unsure if Zac locked the door leaving Amos behind in the bathroom or Amos pressed the lock himself.

I have to buy the lock protector once again now that such accidents happened!!
The boys likes to play with the door :(:(:(

SICK... ... avalanche !!

Sorry to those who drop by recently & not getting any updates from me.

The reason is bcos...

I am SICK !!

In fact, whole family is sick :(

It started off with Amos about 2 weeks ago (fever, cough, flu), then spread to Zac (fever, cough, flu). After that, I experienced extreme headache & whole body aching. I've got gastric flu, its so torturing & feeling so weak ...

Zac had recovered but Amos is still having cough. His cough is so bad that he vomitted thrice on last Fri night. My helper became ill the next day too, possibly inhaling too much of the vomit from Amos. Hubs also feeling chills all the while, he is down too !!

They were just back from the clinic. Can you imagine the medical bill is around S$600+ for all over 2 months?

Just when I thought I'm getting better from the gastric flu, I think I'm affected by the constant coughing back at my home. My throat is getting drier & I can sense that I'm having sore throat soon...

Its not good having everyone sick at the same time. Let alone taking care of the boys when they are sick. Its worst now when the adults are also sick at the same time.

Haiz, everything is upside down over at my end now. Hope everyone can be strong & healthy once again.

Mosquitoe kissed Amos

Amos' face was bitten by mosquitoe on Thurs. Apparently they are inside the house cos he was bitten in the living room. The bite appeared so RED on his baby skin. So heart pain ah !!
Till now, it is still obvious but he is less bothered with it now unlike on Thurs when he kept scratching until half of his face are all RED :(

Milk Powder

Amos has been drinking milk powder from Abbott Laboratories. Last time, he was drinking the Smiliac Excellence(for less than 6mths old ), then Smiliac Follow-on (bet 6mths to 12 mths old) & then Gain IQ (for 1-3 yrs old). Recently, the price of milk powder was soaring high. One 1.8kg tin of Gain IQ from NTUC supermarket cost S$48.20 which lasts for only less than 2 seeks. I wanted to cut down the cost so sourced for a cheaper brand. I bought Enfagrow A+ from Mead Johnson which cost S$44.

Hubs was unhappy why I want to switch brands just to save about S$10 every mth cos all along I told him Gain IQ is good though expensive.

I got a BIG scolding from hubs when maid open up the tin & realized this... ...
..
The milk powder was ONLY 3/4 filled up. I felt so cheated. This is the price I paid to get a cheaper brand now. Hubs laughed at my cheapo decision :(:(:(:(

I felt so mad now. How come like that. We never have such problem with Gain IQ all along, it was filled up to the top !!

All due to my silly decision !!

Why do these people ever exist in this world? Please take this time to read this special message from us, and show your utmost support and sympathy towards the family of the late Nurin Jazlin, who passed away tragically and brutally at the age of only eight. Little Nurin Jazlin’s body was discovered in a gym bag on 17th September, one month after she was abducted. Upon the discovery, she was seen to be in the most horrifying state ever. Her hair was short and curled up, when it was originally straight and long.

Her body was pale and badly bruised from head to toe, and there were traces of foreign objects like brinjal and cucumber found in the virginal area of her body.Parents of the deceased took a long time to acknowledge her death, but eventually did after all the thorough DNA tests had been carried out by the forensics department. Her body was finally buried on 21st September. Her father, Jazimin Abdul Jalil, had expressed his sorrow towards this tragedy, stating that whoever who caused her death was not a human being, but rather, an animal.

This was the result of an outrage of modesty (See Picture) caused by a man of age between 35 and 40, who was thought to be someone who enjoyed torturing people, particularly children. Along with him was a 23-year-old lady, who was apparently his partner in crime. The lady had been found and called for questioning by the Malaysian authorities, whereas the man has yet to be found. Hence, we are urging all of you here to play your part in finding this serial killer cum sexual offender and ensuring that justice is served to the deceased and her family.

Over the years, we have heard of children’s lives being taken away due to the evil doings of heartless adults. Chaotic Day at Home

I hardly have time nowdays to run through my blog list. I don't have the luxury of sitting at the notebook & type all day now. I've got a lot of tasks running in my head, 1 or 2 tasks will be left undone & it snowballing till now, I could hardly breathe. I apologize to those whom I have hardly visited for a month now. I still remember all of you just that I am really tied up. I hardly chat with some of my closer friends now too. I try to spend the day with the boys & update my blog only when they are alseep, so you can see that my posts are usually updated after midnite :)

Just yesterday, while entertaining the 2 boys.... An accident happened in the kitchen. I heard a loud "bomb" followed by my helper's scream. I quickly run to the kitchen to see the commotion.
I was shocked that the glass pot we use to cook soup had shattered into pieces while she was preparing lunch for us. Apparently, the fire was too big & the glass was too heated up & exploded. I was relieved that she wasn't hurt & that my 2 boys were not in the kitchen during that times, they are safely in my hands. This accident reminded me that I should always be more attentive to my boys to prevent them from getting near to the kitchen when my helper is busy cooking up a meal. They tend to stick around the kitchen whenever they are hungry cos they know that is the place where they will find food :):)

I was too shocked to even remember to take photos of the accident, else all of you could see how scary it was.

Our home prepared meals was ruined by the explosion with glass fragments everywhere in the kitchen. So I get her to clean up before we went out for our lunch. The boys are already starving by then. Especially Zac cos he usually took his lunch around 11+ am. He had his lunch near to 1pm. Luckily, there wasn't aftenoon class yesterday bcos the teacher went for graudation ceremony rehearsal, else he will definitely be late.

Before I could calm down, another accident happened after we came back from our lunch.
Amos tripped & fell down, he scratch his chin & upper lips. Awwww, my little baby cried so much. Blood keep coming out from his chin. It was a bad one for him especially that it caught his face.

He got distracted after much coaxing. I always felt bad when the kids are injured like that. Just a few days ago Zac scalded his finger & is still nursing a blistered wound till now.... sigh !!

Amos' chin looks really bad. The bruise was especially red on his tender fair skin. It was even worst when he woke up from his aftenoon nap. I looked at him & asked him "where is the pain"? He innocently look at me & tapped twice on his head & say "pain pain". Whether he truly knows where the pain area is but the fact that he say the word makes me feel lousy all over again :(

Just before bedtime, another knock occurred. The boys just love to play on the bed. They were both sitted on a bolster pretending to row a boat on the mattress. Amos lost his balance & knock against the wooden frame of my king size bed. It was too fast for me to react though I was sitted an arm's distance away. You could imagine how pain for me to witness 2 injury to my poor little boy in a day. It was too much for me to take :(

Luckily, I managed to get a present for Zac's upcoming birthday today just before dinner time. This is the only thing that brought a smile to me for the entire day to see Zac so thrilled. I have fulfilled his wish of getting him a tricycle. The new entry looked like a giant in our small house.

Amos wanted to pedal on it too but it was obviously too big for him to handle, so we put him as a pillion rider. The happiest one must be Zac, you see he is brimming with joy all the while :)

Yesterday, I wrote a post about the good thing of having kids of the same sex, the not so good about it is, they tend to be very "violent" when fighting over toys & I have to get 2 of the same toys everytime. However, it is simply not possible to get 2 tricycle now. It is on the expensive side & we already have a smaller one that Amos can sit. My little boy is also very smart, he wants to have new toys too. He doesnt want the old tricycle from Zac. So you can imagine how chaotic it is over at home on a day like this? Now you know why I am so busy at times?

I'm relieved that its FRIDAY again... ... Zac's school are celebrating Children's Day, I've got him some party food to bring & share with his friends. We are celebrating Zac's birthday today since Daddy will be away on his actual birthday. I'm so excited cos this is the first time Zac is celebrating his birthday at our own home with just the few of us. Over the 3 years, we used to order 2 cakes & celebrated twice over at each of our parents !! I cant wait to collect the birthday cake in the afternoon which I personally chose for Zac, do you still remember that he cant make up his mind whether to have either a Spiderman cake or Mickey Mouse cake? Let's see what mummy chose for him, to be revealed next week on his actual birthday. It happened on Thurs, so "Throwback Thursday" will be postponed bcos of the little man's big day !!

Mid Autumn Festival

Today is Mid-Autumn Festival also known as the MoonCake Festival. Zac's school taught them to make a 2D lantern. It was beautiful!! I admit that I will not have thought of creating that. It was simple yet meaningful for the children to learn about the festival. It was nicely hanged in my hub's working desk at home now.


Last Sat, we had a small celebration over at my mum-in-law's house. We ate mooncake made by my eldest sis-in-law. She loves to make pastry for the family during her leisure time but just purely our of interest & not for earnings. She is humble lady. She could have start off a chain of bakery shops. Her baking skills are awesome. :)

The one on the left column is green tea with sunflower seed snow skin, the one on the right column is lotus seed paste. Yum yum...

After dinner, we lighted the paper lantern for the children. Zac was excited & eager to have his lantern lighted up.

Amos had his share of joy too. Last year, he was still young to appreciate the fun. This year he had so much fun at the garden that he kept wanted people to bring him outside.

Just as the children were immensing in their excitement.

An accident happened.. ...

Zac accidentally touched the fire metal rod after the fire sparks died off. I freaked out seeing that & hubs carried him to run his finger under the water. However, the rest of the people advised that it is better to cool off his scalded finger using toothpaste. I always felt lousy seeing the children injured themselves. I could feel his pain, I touched one of those when I'm young too. Ouccchhh, it was a painful lesson! He wanted his finger to be covered up using plaster. This is his usual reaction whenever he hurt himself & scared. This mishap reminds me the terrible accident that Zac's middle finger was caught in the LRT lift earlier this year (I haven't start to write blog then) & also his thigh caught in between the safety gates at the kitchen door.

It must be a terrible night for him, he cried so much that he dozed off in the car on our way home & didn't wake up until the next morning... ...

I replaced his plaster just now. It was quite a bad burn, a blister that stretch about 1cm on his fragile finger. I don't know how to treat it actually, should I wait for the blister to burst by itself? It was so sore in my heart to see him in pain. He screamed on seeing it & wanted to get it cover up again. Perhaps I should bring him to the doctor to get professional treatment since he is covered under accidental insurance.

Our weekend was ruined ...

We went to Pizza Hut to try the new Rosemary Chicken Cheesy Bites Fondue 2 weeks ago.

The dinner wasn't a pleasant one. Firstly, my helper spilled water onto the table & it dripped onto my legs & shoes. It wasn't her fault, it was an accident. Apparently, the waitress shouldn't have placed the 3 glasses of water right in front of Amos. Helper initiated to shift it away from him but the water toppled over & the mishap occurred !!

We upsized our Pizza to a large (L) one (paying S$6 more) for our set meal, however, the one that was served seem to be a medium (M) one cos we are not too filling after that. We didn't voiced out as we have gobbled up the Pizza by then & we were also unsure whether it was M or L. It was quite a late lunch for the kids. They usually have lunch around 11+. That day, we had our lunch near to 2 pm :(

Looking at the picture, do you think it is a M or L sized pizza? I think it is quite difficult to gauge from the picture!!

We also ordered a kid's meal for Zac. It comprised of a main dish, orange juice & a scoop of ice-cream. This is how the ice-cream look like when it was served. Do you think something was wrong? It looked like the ice-cream was melted & frozen again. See the layer of frozen ice-cream at the bottom of the bowl? I didn't give much thoughts to it then but I sensed something not quite right when all of us experienced tummy upset one after another not too long after leaving the restaurant. The ice-cream was obviously NOT freshly scoop right?

We don't usually patronize Pizza Hut (have to pay about S$50+ for eating 'bread', if you get what I mean!!) but that day was a weekend & everywhere was crowded with diners. We were late into our lunch & so just hop in to Pizza Hut which have available seats. This unpleasant incident will make us even more unwilling to enter their restaurant in future....

TrAnSfOrMer .... choo choo... teet teet ...

Transformer is simply awesome !!
I catch it on the 2nd day of opening here in Singapore. The ticketing queue is SO ooooooooooooo very the looooooooooooooong. Imagine queueing for tickets in the afternoon for nearly an hour, only left with midnite shows. But I think it is worth it. I am not a Transformer follower when young. Those days, I only love "Little Twin Stars", "My Melody" & "Strawberry Shortcakes" ;)
Before catching the show, I only know & heard of bumblebee. The Volkswagon is a Chevrolet in the show.

I cannot wait to catch the subsequent episodes. I am mightily impressed by the show when it is on preview shots months back. I have never seen cars transform like this to metal robots.... I kept telling myself this is a MUST SEE movie for me. Those computer wizards can actually sit for long periods just to render one frame of the CGI animation of the Transformers. I am actually contributing (by watching the movie at theatre) a bit for their hard works.

What spoil my day for the movie is an irritating fella sitted behind me in the FULL HOUSE theatre. Imagine spending a total of 1/4 of the time enduring his sickening leg jerking on my seats..... Starting off an argument is not my style. I am a gracious mummy mah ... so I just kept my posture UP so that he will also have to do likewise & not lean his "techno" legs on my seats.
That seemed to work but for a while............., he is back to his legs jerk again, this time round "R n B" style ................ :(((((((
